This a thing I’m going to do before every series starts.

-
Worst SR: 1-12 in 87

-
Longest Winning Streak: 15, 9-8-78 through 9-6-79
- Longest Losing Streak: 13, 4-11-99 through 5-10-09
The Orioles have an all-time record 213-239. The Orioles won the series in the 70′s and 80′s but after that it has been Blue Jays.
Last season we were .268 against Toronto, but considering the fact that Burnett isn’t with them that has to make a difference.
The Birds had an ERA of 5.46 against the Blue Jays.
Brian Roberts: .308 BA, 20 H
Adam Jones: .250 BA, 15 H, 4 HR
Nick Markakis: .385 BA, 25 H, 3 HR
Mark Henderickson: 4.85 ERA, 2-6
Brad Bergesun: never played against Jays
Jeremy Guthrie: 2.66 ERA, 1-2
George Sherill: 7.71 ERA, 2 SV
Note: All of these are last year’s stats
ORIOLES FUN FACT OF THE DAY: Jeremy Guthire has never thrown a shutout, Koji has thrown 9 getting all of them in his first 5 years with the Giants.
I’m Very Happy!!!!
Now you may ask: why is Jordan so happy. Three words: Madden Cover Jinx.
The cover of Madden NFL 10 was announced and Troy Polamalu of the Squealers Steelers and Larry Fitzgerald of the Cardinals are both on it. Here is why I’m so happy

This means that Troy Polamalu is jinxed! Me being a fan of the Ravens

This is good. From Wikipedia the tale of the Madden Curse
Prior to 1999, every annual installment of the Madden NFL series primarily featured John Madden on its cover.] In 1999, Electronic Arts selected Garrison Hearst to appear on the cover, and has since featured one of the league’s top players on every annual installment. Since then, certain players have experienced a decline in performance, usually due to an injury. For example, quarterback Michael Vick appeared on the cover of Madden NFL 2004, and suffered a leg injury that sidelined him for most of the 2004 season. In a similar example, running back Shaun Alexander, then the league’s reigning Most Valuable Player, was featured on the cover of Madden NFL 2007, and sustained a foot injury that caused him to miss six starts. As a result, Alexander’s rushing statistics were substantially less than those from the previous season.
When asked about the “Madden Curse”, Chris Erb, the EA Sports director of marketing, commented, “I don’t know that we believe in the curse. The players don’t believe in the curse” Greg Pearson, a writer for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, commented that the string of injuries that Madden cover athletes experience can be attributed to the physical-nature of football. Alexander himself has claimed, “Do you want to be hurt and on the cover, or just hurt.” When Vince Young appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live to officially announce that he would appear on the cover of Madden NFL 2008, he derided allegations of becoming the curse’s next victim, and stated, “I done prayed about it and we’re gonna go home and try to get to the playoffs and try to get to the Super Bowl. We’ll see what happens.” In 2007, GameSpot and CNBC reported that a large number of LaDainian Tomlinson‘s fans, who believed in the Madden Curse, were strongly opposed to EA Sports’ initial decision to feature him on the 2008 cover, so much that a fan created SaveLTfromMadden.com to voice their disdain. Tomlinson eventually declined the offer, but stated it was solely due to contract negotiations.
Brett Favre graced the cover of Madden 2009. He is depicted on the cover in his uniform with the Green Bay Packers; however, he played the 2008 NFL season with the New York Jets. After going 8-3 to start the season, Favre apparently developed a then-undiagnosed shoulder injury, which resulted in the Jets losing four of their final five games, and missing the 2008 NFL playoffs
As you can tell this means Troy Polamalu will be awful.
Back to your scheduled programming..
WHO ARE YOU, AND WHAT HAVE YOU DONE WITH ADAM EATON?!?
That is what I found myself asking for most of the Orioles game he was in the zone!!!!

He had 9 K’s, and had shutout going until 8th and he just looked so different! If we can have this Adam pitching

and not this one

Then we have ourselves a solid pitcher! There was a rather fuuny moment during game, there’s a shot hit to left which I thought as Sox guys say ” They can put in the board.. YEEEESSSS” but then it might stay in play but now both Adam Jones and Felix
Pie

(couldn’t resist)
are both on it, then this happens

and Adam catches it!
Also George Sherrill looks awfully similar to Mr. Clean

” George buy some rogaine!”

Also an important announcement
Forget this!
This isn’t as true as this

Orangebirds dig the 5 tool player!
Around the MLB
More Sox!
On Tuesday the orioles beat the White Sox 10-2. The big thing was that Brad Bergensen made him Major League debut and has an ERA of 1.57. He is the first of orioles 12 trillion pitching prospects to be called up. Others include Matsuz and Tillman
I really didn’t watch much of game dos, I just know J-Guth had his second bad outing.
Arrrgh You Kidding They’re Good!!!!
The Pirates swept the Marlins!!!! The fact anybody cares is something to write home about! The Bucs figured out how to play, get a pitching coach who knows what he’s doing and get young pitchers. And write know it’s working! However if they were to play a home-and-home thier attenddence for those games wouldn’t fill the Yard. It’d 5,000 fans per game! ]

Weaver Ball!
Yankee fans across the MLBlogsphere are wondering “How the *&#$ are we losing to the
*#$%#ing Orioles, the Orioles!!” Somebody thinks it’s Nick Markakis and wants to kidnap him!!! (this person shall remain unknown, but her name rhymes with rain dweller). However do not blame him. Blame one notable Hall of Famer, Mr. Earl Sidney Weaver.

“That’s the worst call I’ve ever seen!!!!”
Why blame Earl Weaver if he’s not managing. Well, I’ll tell you why: the O’s are playing Weaver Ball. Now you may ask, what is Weaver Ball? Well, Weaver Ball is pitching, defense and the three run homer. Those were the things the great Earl liked seeing most. And let me tell you, the O’s are playing Weaver Ball!!
Exhibit A. Fielding- take Monday; Cesar Izturus Salad Man makes a diving stop, throws to first, the runner is safe, then Huff - seeing Nady is going home – throws to Zaun who stops Nady in his tracks and throws back to Melvin to get him out and kill the Yankees rally chances. That’s excellent and unselfish fielding. Also, take the O’s outfield. We have two of the fastest outfielders:

and they gobble up everything!!!! In fact, ESPN the Mag called the Camden Yards outfield “Where triples go to die.” (sounds like a quote from Field of Dreams). And by no means are the Yankees fielding like that; their outfield has as much speed as a

(if you ask me that turtle is orange!!)
Exhibit B. PItching – In the Orioles first two games we have had great starting pitching while the Yankees had their 160 million dollar baby cry as he pitched awful on Opening Day and then have their Asian pitcher get outdueled by ours. In case you don’t believe that pitching wasn’t part of Weaver ball I have something to say: take a look at these pitching stats.
However no three run shots have been hit… YET
My Orioles demand some respect!!!
One last thing, another reason why we are this year’s Rays- last year many had the Rays to finish in fourth place and many this year predict that we will finish fourth.
THAT’S THE VIEW FROM SECTION 360!!
KONICHIWA KOJI!!!!!!
Tonight Koji Uehara

will make his MLB debut against Ching Mang Wang

and the Evil Empire Yankees

Three Words: Asian Media Frenzy

It’s probably going to be 2am in Japan yet those dedicated fans will deprive themselves of sleep to see Koji and Hideki. I’m not sure if those from Wang’s country (??Taiwan??) are that big fans, they might be.
The Orioles are going to giveaway his T-Shirt on Tuedsay the 21st as part of a promo T-Shirt Tuesday were they give out the T-Shirt of a guy who’s doing well but his T-Shirts aren’t avalible.
Last year they did it for Adam, Lu(uuuuuuuuuuuuuuu)ke, Super Platypus Sherill and other guys.
I look forward to watching Koji’s debut.
T Shirts and An O’s Themed Article
I created some motivational t-shirts for the O’s
I discovered this website right before game 1 of the WWS and I was hooked, I missed most of the game, sorry RR. Now I would buy these shirts but purchasing them is very expensive! Also here is very interesting artcle about the voices of the O’s Fred Manfra and Joe Angel did something very interesting.
BTW for those who haven’t heard I won $500 for writing an essay!
News Item My Take… Again
News Item: Japan defeated Korea (the one that doesn’t have this man as ruler)

for WBC Champions.
My Take: Something tells that the lack of spring training with MLB clubs (I think the teams only have 6 or 7 guys in Majors combined) helped since they we’re building team chemistry longer then the U.S. was and that must of helped somehow. Also from what I’ve heard Japan vs. Korea is a international sports rivalry that sounds awfully similar to that of these enemies buddies:

(sorry I couldn’t find equal sized flags) That’s right it sounds like they have US- Soviet hatred, however considering the fact neither team was horrendous I can’t make this comparison:
Seriously, America needs to get more excited about hockey.
Related News Item: Japan defeated the U.S. in the semis to win.
My Take: To get more people more excited and/or interested they should do it a week after the WS. That way more people can be availible. For example the rotation of the US if very good, but not totally dominate. I, Orangebird after having a discussion with Jordan ( I was talking to myself) realized there were two really good pitchers not playing:

and

I know Cole was injured and I’m not sure what’s the deal with Lincecum, but if this were played post-WS, I’m pretty sure those guys would be playing, the Nt’l team rotation lacks a true big name pitcher no offense Roy Oswalt and Jake Peavy, but that is not the best the U.S. can offer, and that’s the truth!
News Item: The Orioles rotation after Jeremy and Koji has candidates for the remaining spot that I’ll let UMD student section describe (except for the beat the H%#$ out of you part:
They are not very good. However they will have one heckuva lineup with B-Rob, Nick, Adam Jones (BTW that trade is starting to be called the Adam Jones or George Sherill deal) and you know who

I’m starting to get (I think it’s called) a mancrush on him. Trust me that is a dangerous lineup. Here’s a stat worth mentioning: the Orioles were the last team to get shut out lats season.
Related News Item: Guys like O’s beat writer Peter $chmuck (it astriks me if I have a normal S) claim that Orioles have one of the best bullpens in years.
My Take: They certainley have a good point. We have long relievers like Albers and my favorite pre-Matt prospect Radhemmes Liz and Dennis Sarfate who all can come in if the 3, 4 and 5 guys start not doing well and the relievers can give 4 or 5 innings. We also have a very good lefty specalist in Jamie Walker. Then we have the back three the setup man for the setup man, the setup man and the closer.
In the seventh we have Jim Johnson, another good young pitcher, the eigth Chris ray who was our closer unti he had TJ surgery:

And there’s Super Platypus George Sherill our closer. Why is he called Super Platypus take a look-sees

He reminds me of of the Tigers closer who retired Todd Jones where a save would be like:
Double, walk, K, walk, GIDP. He would get it down but this would occur:

I fell bad for the girl.
Bye, More Pop Art Soon
News Item My Take
News Item: Manny Ramirez actually signs a contract with the Dodgers 2 years 45 mil.
My Take: Wasn’t he offered this 4 or 5 times before, well at least he actually signed at all, however I have no idea why but I thought the Giants were going to sign him. I still think he could DH for the Orioles!
News Item: The Orioles defeat the DR 6-1 with David Ortiz, Hanley Ranirez and Johnny Cueto actually playing.
My Take: This is very good for the Orioles, I have no ida how hard the Dr was playing but this certainley is promising, considering that they have good spring training record. And Koji Uehara is doing really well. Was the Rays’ record in spring training last season if it was good then you know where I’m going with this.
Related News Item: Japan beats China 4-0 in the first game of the WBC.
My Take: I now love WBC I wake-up and they actually have baseball on it’s youknowwhating awesome! There was this really bizarre attempted pickoff move, I litteraly said out loud ” What the heck was that!?!”
Related News Item: A-Rod needs surgery on his hip and will be out until Mid- May.
My Take: Yay! Now we concentrate our booing more to Texeiria and A-Rod will miss the Opening of NYS.
News item: The Orioles are doing an O’s Ravens Draft Day Rally Cap Giveaway.
My Take: Eight words: Baltimore loves the Ravens more then the O’s, I saw this point made on http://www.bmorebirdsnest.com/ the blog that found “were gonna boo texeiria” Somebody maybe Joe Flacco was throwing out the first pitch and they asked ” When’s the last time you saw an O in an Ravens jersey.”

Orioles Spring Training IV and Picks
Where Playing the Domnicians!?!?
This is nuts tomorrow the O’s are playing the:

The DR is playing us, are schedule makers out to get the O’s!! This ridculous the Orioles get one of the best teams in tourney, that’s not even good practice for the DR how abot the: Angels (SAF), Cubs, or Red Sox (PUR). The O’s did paly Cuba for a home and home and Ztaknek went to the game in the states but that was when the O’s were decent and Cal was on the team. I would want to play Canada but I have no idea why. Alos this is preety good for the O’s, in ’06 Koji Uehara had second best ERA among starters, and second best wins, you can guess who was first. When your second only to him that’s pretty good. And he was first in K’s and you’re putting K in his name, reeally.
#38
I dedicate my number 38 rating to Curt Schilling. one he beat the Yankees with a bleeeping bloody foot! And he fighting for to:

Plus here’s a trivia nugget he played for the O’s!!
